Can jewellery change lives? Yours can.

Mountain & Moon was founded as a jewellery label that actually cares.

Partnering with the Saheli Women foundation in India means that there is power in your purchase. A percentage of all MM sales are reinvested into varied projects on ground level, currently focused on health issues and the education around this.

The objective of Saheli Women is to provide livelihood opportunities and economic empowerment to women in the rural village of Bhikamkor in Rajasthan, India. Saheli Women employs 20 rural women, providing them with fair wages, health insurance coverage and a safe work environment free from gender, religious and caste discrimination. They create employment for women in ethical fashion manufacturing to derive a sustainable livelihood that benefits themselves, their families and their communities.

Saheli Women was launched in 2015 as a social initiative of the Institute For Philanthropy and Humanitarian Development (IPHD), a women’s empowerment and rural community development nonprofit based in Jodhpur, India. IPHD manages the Saheli Women production facility for clothing, accessories + homewares out of its community center in Bhikamkor. Additionally, IPHD sponsors the educations of all daughters of Saheli Women members, runs the only female health clinic in the village and delivers workshops on a range of topics including human rights, feminism, menstrual hygiene and health and financial literacy.

Our longstanding partnership provides consistent sewing work for the women of Bhikamkor with our fair-trade and ethical jewellery bags. Made in a safe and comfortable work environment the bags are crafted from unbleached organic cotton with traditional hand braided golden tassels. Designed to keep your jewellery with you forever,  the bags are part of a bigger picture promoting our alliance with the Saheli Women.

Our commitment to Saheli Women means reinvesting a percentage of our sales into their projects as well as providing job opportunities through their sewing work. The aim is to empower the women of Bhikamkor village through employment, education and exposure to a global consumer via collaboration.
