Our pieces are made to last. To protect the longevity of your jewellery, we recommend treating each piece with care during wear, storage, and transport. Excessive impact, dropping, or improper storage will accelerate wear and may cause damage over time.

A little care goes a long way — the tabs below outline our recommendations for our material types.

After each wear, lightly wipe your jewellery with a microfibre cloth to remove any residue or chemicals from the surface. Gentle polishing will restore shine and help prevent tarnishing.

A few things to keep in mind:

• You do not need to use a specific jewllery polishing cloth, as these often have chemicals that can affect the plating. these cloths are best for sterling sivler and solid gold pieces
• Wash your hands after using a jewellery cloth, as they contain cleaning chemicals
• Avoid contact with perfume, moisturisers, hairspray, sunscreen, and other chemicals — these are the primary cause of tarnishing

Please note that tarnishing resulting from chemical exposure is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered under our warranty. Consistent cleaning after each wear is the most effective way to maintain the appearance of your piece.

Mountain & Moon jewellery features a mix of natural and nano gemstones. Gemstones are delicate by nature and can chip or shatter upon impact with hard surfaces — please handle and store your pieces with care.

To protect your gemstones:

• Store in a dry place, away from abrasive surfaces and direct sunlight
• Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, perfume, and skincare products
• Take care when applying makeup — remove your jewellery beforehand where possible
• Avoid getting plated metal pieces wet
• Do not leave gemstone pieces in direct heat such as on a windowsill or in a hot car, as certain stones are heat sensitive
• Gently wipe with a soft cloth to remove any residue after wear

Please note that stones that chip or break due to mishandling or impact are not considered a manufacturing fault and will not be covered under warranty.

Chemicals & Moisture

• Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming in the ocean, or entering a pool
• Avoid direct contact with perfume, moisturisers, lotions, hairspray, and sunscreen
• Do not spray perfume directly onto or near your jewellery
• Apply all cosmetics, hair products, and moisturisers before putting on your jewellery, with clean dry hands

Impact & Storage

• Avoid knocking your jewellery against hard surfaces, tabletops, or other pieces of jewellery — this can cause scratching and chipping
• Store each piece individually and avoid throwing jewellery loosely into a bag or drawer
• Pack with care when travelling

General

• All metals oxidise naturally over time and will require periodic maintenance — this is a natural characteristic of precious metals, not a fault
• Gold plated pieces will experience some natural tarnishing with wear; correct cleaning and storage will significantly minimise this
